Okigwe Zone APC Leaders Regroup, Meet at Speaker Ihim's County Home August 1st

 

Reacting to question directed to the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly by blogger, IfeanyiCy Njoku for clarification on publications in some Owerri based Newspapers inferring that he, the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Acho Ihim has turned himself the leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC in his Okigwe zone, were the party has a serving Senator, and former Speaker, Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu and former Senator, Chief Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume, and other Chieftains of the party.

Hon. Ihim in a statement said, "as a leader of the party in the state owning to his current position as the speaker, he had called for Okigwe APC leaders and Stakeholders meeting scheduled for August 1, 2017 at his country home, Umualumoke Okigwe LGA , Imo State, to brainstorm and help the leaders regroup, work with one mind and also thank the governor for the good works he is doing in the zone."

The Speaker said before scheduling the meeting, he had reached out to the former Speaker and Senator representing Okigwe Zone, Rt Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu and APC member of the House of Representatives, representing Okigwe South, Hon Chike Okafor and intimated them while also inviting them for the meeting.

Also adding his voice Hon. Irouno Chukwunonye, the SA to the Governor on Entertainment, who is also from Okigwe LGA, made it clear that by the virtue of the speaker’s position as the number three citizen of the state and the most ranking member of the government in the zone, he has the right to convene a meeting of the party leaders.  He further stated that the publication holds no water, as the Speaker is doing what is right and needful.

Meanwhile, erudite Professor and Special Adviser to Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha on Education also an Okigwe son, Prof. Nnamdi Obiaraeri, hailed the speaker’s diligence and the progressive nature of the Governor, adding that having served under the last three Governors of the state, he can confess that only Governor Okorocha thinks of the Future.

He cited commissioners who have progressed to the State House and House of Representatives, while others have been presented with bigger opportunities which have left them relevant in the society.
